Before trying to explain the scientific concept, we usually try to know the meaning of the concept. What is the meaning of education?
The meaning of education etymologically
Education or pedagogy is etymologically derived from the Latin word “pais” means child and “again” means guiding. So, education or pedagogy means to guide the child or give guidance to the child. What for? What is the educational objective? To make the children develop as possible as themself, in accordance with their talents and abilities and do not force them, just only to conform to the adults or parents.
According to Wikipedia.com, the definition of education can be explained etymologically derived from the Latin word education means raising, or maintaining, so the meaning of education is the same with the word “educate me, I train.”
Definitions according to the Education Act (Undang-Undang Nomor 20 Tahun 2003)
In Article 1 paragraph 1 of Law No. 20 Year 2003 on National Education System explained that
“Education is a conscious and deliberate effort to create an atmosphere of learning and the learning process so that learners are actively developing the potential for him to have the spiritual power of religion, self-control, personality, intelligence, character, and skills needed for them self, society, nation, and the state.”
Based on the experts opinion, the sense of education described in the following definition:
Education is a process of learning facilitation, or the mastery of knowledge, skills, values, and habits. Educational methods including storytelling, discussions, training under the direction of educators, and students can teach themselves.
The right to education is a right of all citizens through the nine-year compulsory education program and twelve years. After compulsory education was complete, the program that is no less important is improving the quality of learning outcomes or program to improve the quality of education, to improve the competitiveness of human resources.
